The thin-film 'voyager'
Inside a sputter deposition tool. Such a tool is our mainstay for all challenging material development expeditions and scientific exploration, especially in the semiconductor technology. Similar to the voyager, a sputter tool takes us into the world of the unknown- the nano-world.
The Fourth State
A peek into the inside of a sputter deposition tool provides us a beautiful view of the fourth state of matter. A dense plasma is generated near the cathode during the deposition process. A wide variety of thin-film materials including, magnetic, metallic, insulator etc. can be grown by generating the 'fourth state' in a sputter deposition chamber.
